Safety First
Your safety and the safety of your loved ones is not only important to you but to us too. You can
be safe in the knowledge that Spotlight Limo Cruisers Ltd operates in accordance with all relevant UK
legislation in all aspects of our business.
The Law
It is a legal requirement that any vehicle with 9 seats or more used for the carriage of passengers
for hire or reward must be operated under a PSV operators licence issued by the Traffic Commissioners
which is enforced by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
The conditions of a PSV operators licence are specifically designed to ensure the safety of those being
carried on board, based on ensuring the driver is fully trained/qualified to drive the vehicle and the
vehicle itself is maintained to very high standards via a regular maintenance programme and daily inspections.
Any operator carrying more than eight people in a single vehicle, and taking payment either in cash or kind,
without an Operators licence is doing so outside of the law and your safety and insurance cover cannot be guaranteed.
The Vehicle
The vehicles themselves must carry a Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF) to confirm the safety aspects of the
vehicle conform to UK and EU standards, which many, if not all, American stretch limousines and Hummer style Limo’s do
not.
Spotlight Limo Cruisers Ltd has a vehicle maintenance agreement with EYMS Group
the regions largest public transport operator, who have excellent maintenance facilities and an exemplary maintenance record.
This will ensure that our Limo Cruiser, on top of the daily safety checks, will also be subject to rigorous inspections every
8 weeks or 5,000 miles.
The Driver
Drivers of vehicles of this size must hold a valid UK or EU PCV (Category D) licence
and hold a Certificate of Professional Competence in respect of their licence (if gained since 1 September 2008 and for all
holders by September 2013).
Any drivers employed or hired in by Spotlight Limo Cruisers Ltd will also have been vetted through the Criminal Records
Bureau (CRB) to ensure they are suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.
Finally, be warned, on top of all of the safety issues, should VOSA carry out a roadside check and find the limousine
operator is not properly licensed they will most likely terminate the hire there and then, wherever it may be, leaving the
passenger to make their own way home!
